The Fuller Foundation held its annual Fall meeting on October 15, 2015 at Dexter Southfield school in Brookline, Massachusetts. At the meeting, the trustees approved approximately $168,000 to support nonprofit programs that focus primarily on art, youth-at-risk, and wildlife. Nonprofits who applied to the foundation should be hearing soon about the status of their grant requests. If your program is interested in applying for a future grant, please review our focus areas and application procedures.
The trustees also approved grants to support three nonprofit agencies suggested by Fuller Fellows Katherine Fuller, Suzanne Fuller, and Brittney Mason. And, we unanimously elected Devin Beverstock and Charlotte Fuller to the Fuller Fellow program. Welcome Devin and Charlotte! We look forward to hearing about organizations you are interested in supporting.
After the business portion of the meeting, William Southwick, Dexter Southfield’s Associate Director of Advancement, presented the trustees with an alumni tree, created by his daughter. The family alumni tree shows the 27 Fuller family members who attended the school.
In turn, the foundation presented the second installment of an ongoing donation to assist in the maintenance of Fuller Field. The foundation made the donation in memory of former foundation president Peter D. Fuller. Mr. Fuller was a member of the Dexter graduating class of 1936.
After the presentation, we toured the campus buildings and facilities. The buildings included the Clay Center, a state-of-the art astronomical observatory and learning center. In addition to providing students with a unique opportunity to observe our solar system, the center also hosts telescope nights where the facility and telescope are open to the public.
After touring the Clay Center and some other facilities, we stopped at Fuller Field. The field has a durable, artificial surface. The surface helps ensure that the field both plays well and remains part of Dexter Southfield athletics for future generations.
Thanks to Dexter Southfield for hosting us for the day!
